The fall colors of the Rockies are starting to peak! Grab your camera, circular polarizer, and ND filters, and head west for some awesome color shots!
Staffer Kyle Cooper ventured out to Minturn, CO last weekend to shoot the changing leaves of the aspens. Minturn is an old mining town, established in 1904, and is located southwest of Vail, CO. Kyle loved checking out the changing leaves among the old mining buildings in this historic town with his girlfriend Genna; check out some of his shots, taken with a Nikon F4 and Kodak Ektar 100.
Kyle also snagged this awesome shot of Genna near Lake Dillon–wonderful color happening there, too! The Dillon/Frisco/Silverthorne area off of I70 West is a close location to Denver for a photographic day trip.
Focusing a little closer to town, staffer Sherry Harder spent time near Breckenridge, off of Colorado 9 to the south, watching the leaves start to change. Sherry shot some images around Guanalla Pass, just south of Georgetown, on her way back to town. Her advice is to head west this weekend, where you’ll see not only oranges and golds in the aspens, but red leaves too. This should be the peak weekend for fall leaves, so if you want to brave the I70 traffic, get your camera gear ready!
Sherry also went by Kenosha Pass, off of Colorado 285, to check out the changing landscape. This will also be a high traffic area this weekend, but some of the outlying areas will be amazing locations to shoot the aspen.

We had a large number of submissions, and a variety of creative shots that made this contest exceptionally difficult to judge! We are pleased to announce our winner–Hannah Morvay–who captured these images on a Canon. Congratulations, Hannah, and thank you to everyone who participated. We found all of the images very inspiring, and hope you keep at the creative process!

The FUJIFILM X-T2 is the ultimate mirrorless digital camera. The X-T2 is a splash-resistant premium interchangeable lens camera with a large OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF). The X-T2 houses the latest generation 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS III with an APS-C sensor with no low-pass filter, boasting the highest performance in the history of X Series. The new X-T2 produces crisp image resolution comparable to that of cameras equipped with larger sensors and higher pixel counts, all in a more compact and classically-designed body.
And for the first time, the new FUJIFILM X-T2 now supports 4K video recording that can use each available Film Simulation mode, including ACROS, to easily produce premium-quality footage that is as unique as the photographer behind the viewfinder.
It’s summer time in Colorado, which means a wonderful opportunity to get your creative juices flowing at any number of events, local parks, or on a cool escape to the mountains! To celebrate summer photography, Englewood Camera is offering a unique photo contest, where participants can check out the very awesome Lensbaby Velvet 56 to push the creative boundaries of photography.
What is the Lensbaby Velvet 56? A take on the classic portrait lens–such as a 50mm f/1.2–the Velvet 56 has 3 primary uses. When used with its fastest apertures (f/1.6, f/2, f/2.8), the lens functions as a soft focus, creative effects tool. When used with mid-range apertures (f/4-f/16), the Velvet 56 offers a classic portrait-lens look, with sharp focus and creamy bokeh that rivals the Sigma Art lenses. Lastly, the Velvet 56 functions as a pseudo-macro lens, with a minimum focus distance of one-half an inch, or a 1:2 macro. So, whether you specialize in fine art photography, or portrait photography, this lens is a wonderful tool to add more creative kick to your images!
