Fujifilm Announces New X-Pro2 Digital Camera

Hooray, Fujifilm photographers–the wait is over! At last, a replacement to the X-Pro1 camera has been announced, with an estimated delivery of February 2016. There are two other cameras and a lens in the new X-Series lineup as well! The Fujifilm X-Pro2 is the new flagship range-finder style camera in the award-winning X-Series line. The X-Pro2 is the pinnacle of X-Series photography, and gives professional photographers an innovative, Advanced Hybrid Multi Viewfinder capable of quickly switching between optical and electronic finders, a new 24.3MP X-Trans CMOS III sensor for truly remarkable image resolution, and a new X-Processor Pro that delivers dramatically quick response times for unmatched overall performance. Estimated retail is $1699.99 for the X-Pro2 camera body.

In addition to the X-Pro2, Fujifilm announced two other models to it’s mid-range X-Series lineup: the X70 and the X-E2S.

The new Fujifilm X-E2S has significant improvements over its predecessor, the X-E2, with a redesigned autofocus system, electronic shutter, updated graphics interface, and better ergonomics.

The X-E2S is expected to retail for $699.99 camera body, or $999.99 with the XF 18-55mm f/2.8-4 OIS. Expected delivery is February 2016.

For the fixed-focal length photographer, the new Fujifilm X70 is an awesome wide-angle camera, boasting an 18.5mm f/2.8 (28mm equivalent) lens. The new X70 elegantly combines simple, manual operation with superior image quality and versatile picture-taking functions, and is the first X-Series camera to offer a touchscreen display that rotates 180 degrees, enabling users to shoot from up high and down low and to capture selfies.

The compact FUJIFILM X70 uses a 16.3MP APS-C X-Trans CMOS II Sensor for extraordinary image resolution, and gives photographers milled aluminum dial controls, as well as aperture settings in 1/3 stop increments, and the new Auto Mode Switch lever for selecting its fully automatic Advanced SR Auto mode. In this mode, the camera automatically chooses the optimum settings for great results on any scene.

Last but definitely not least, Fujifilm announced a brand new telephoto to its professional X-Series lens lineup. The new XF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6R LM OIS WR lens is a weather-sealed, superior telephoto lens that gives photographers exceptionally sharp images with a 152mm-609mm equivalent in 35mm format. This high-performance lens has an optical construction of 21 elements in 14 groups, and includes five ED lenses and one Super ED lens to help reduce chromatic aberration that often occurs in telephoto lenses. As a result, it delivers impressive, professional image quality.

The XF 100-400mmF4.5-5.6 R LM OIS WR has been designed for handheld shooting with a 5.0-stop image stabilization system and twin linear motors for speedy autofocus that makes it perfect for shooting fast-moving subjects. The lens is also water and dust resistant and can operate in temperatures as low as 14°F, making it suitable for use in a wide range of outdoor shooting conditions. A fluorine coating has also been applied to the front lens element to repel water and dirt, adding to the toughness and functionality of the lens.

• Uses  21 elements in 14 groups, and 5 extra-low dispersion elements and 1 super extra low dispersion elements
• Weather-sealed with 13 water and dust resistant seals at 12 points
• Included lens hood features a sliding window for accessing a polarizing filter and locking mechanism
• Compatible with the XF1.4X TC WR teleconverter (140-560mm F6.3-8 or 213-853mm in 35mm equivalent
This lens is expected to sell for $1899.99, and should begin shipping mid-February 2016.
